Can burn garments for hand (i.e. compression glove) be made with UVA/ UVB protection?
admin 5:12 pm on May 10, 2011 | #
Thank you for your question. At this time, Gottfried Medical Garments are not manufactured with UVA/UVB protective fabric. While there is a minimal amount of UV protection offered from the garment coverage, it is important to understand that the fabric is not UV rated for protctive quality. We highly recommend the use of sunscreen underneath the garments or protective clothing over top of the garments.
Newly healed skin is likely to be damaged by the sun’s rays. Skin that has been burned and/or grafted will damage easily. Your donor sites need protection as well. New skin is more likely to be affected by UV light for the the next 2 years and should be cared for with caution in the sun for the rest of a burn survivors life.
